PEORIA 5: Preserving and Documenting Peoria’s Architectural Heritage

US Laser Scanning is pleased to announce our involvement with Peoria 5. This is an initiative being revived by the Peoria Section of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) to document the rich historical architecture that is present throughout the Greater Peoria area.

In the late 70s and early 80s Peoria AIA was responsible for the creation of a series of documentary books that aimed to record and preserve historical architecture throughout Peoria Illinois. Four volumes were originally created, with preliminary planning done for a fifth. That fifth volume was never finished and has gone untouched for over 30 years…until now!

With the revival of the Peoria AIA Section, new life has also been brought to this publication. An initial kick off meeting was held this evening to discuss the future of the PEORIA 5 project. The meeting was chaired by the President of the local Peoria AIA group, Christopher Horan. Chris is a local Peoria architect who has been instrumental in the revitalization of this seemingly forgotten project.

We are very excited about this project and the opportunity to be a part of it. If you or your organization would like to be involved or contribute to the project you are welcome to do so. Community support and volunteers are welcomed and essential to the success of PEORIA 5.

Historically, all sales of previous volumes were used solely for the production of the next book in the series. Keeping with this tradition, proceeds raised from the sale of remaining copies of the original four will be used to finance the production of PEORIA 5.

For more information or to purchase copies of the original 4 volumes, contact Chris Horan.
